BPC-157: what does the actual human evidence look like in 2026?

BPC-157 gets talked about like it is settled science for soft-tissue healing, but every time I go looking for human trials I mostly find rodent studies. I wanted to open a thread specifically about the quality of the evidence rather than anecdotes, and link it to the Library page so people can check the citations there.

From what I can tell, the bulk of the promising work is preclinical: gut, tendon, and vascular models in rats. The mechanistic story around the VEGFR2 pathway is genuinely interesting. But I have not found a well-powered randomized human trial for any of the popular use cases. Am I missing something published recently?

Not asking anyone how to use it. Just trying to get an honest read on how much weight the human data can actually bear.

You are not missing much. The honest summary is 'compelling animal data, mechanistic plausibility, essentially no controlled human evidence.' That is not the same as 'it does nothing,' but it is also nowhere near the confidence people project onto it.

The other thing worth flagging is that a lot of the animal work comes from a small cluster of related research groups, which is not disqualifying but does mean the findings need independent replication before anyone treats them as established.

Biochemist here. I would add that 'BPC-157' as sold is a synthetic partial sequence, and the stability and pharmacokinetics of the injectable versus oral forms are genuinely unresolved in the literature. So even the animal results do not translate cleanly, because the exposure profile in those studies may not match what people assume they are getting.

Good thread to keep grounded. Anyone making a strong healing claim should be able to point to a specific study, and 'a Reddit thread said' does not count.

That is the answer I expected but wanted confirmed. I will add a note to the Library page draft distinguishing preclinical from clinical so nobody skims it and comes away thinking there is trial-grade support. Thanks both.
