MOTS-c fascinates me conceptually — a mitochondrial-derived peptide that seems tied to metabolic regulation and insulin sensitivity, sometimes described as an 'exercise mimetic.' But every time I try to pin down the human evidence I mostly find mouse studies.
From what I can tell, the influential work showing improved metabolic flexibility and insulin sensitivity was in mice, including some aged-mouse and diet-induced-obesity models. There's genuinely interesting exercise-physiology literature about MOTS-c levels changing with activity in humans, but that's an association, not a demonstration that injecting it does something beneficial.
Is anyone aware of controlled human interventional data? I want to be excited about it but I'm trying not to confuse 'compelling biology' with 'proven to do anything in people.'
