Kisspeptin-10 is a peptide central to the regulation of reproductive hormones.
Kisspeptin-10 (commonly abbreviated KP-10) is a short peptide fragment that plays a central role in the regulation of reproductive hormones. It belongs to the kisspeptin family of neuropeptides, which act upstream in the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. Kisspeptin-10 stimulates the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which in turn drives the downstream secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Because of this position at the top of the reproductive endocrine cascade, kisspeptin signaling is considered a master regulator of puberty and fertility.
