GHRP-6 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-6) is a synthetic growth-hormone secretagogue β a small peptide designed to stimulate the body's own release of growth hormone rather than replace it. It belongs to the same broad family as GHRP-2 and hexarelin and acts primarily at the ghrelin receptor (the growth-hormone secretagogue receptor, GHS-R). Among the GHRPs it is particularly noted for a strong effect on appetite, a downstream consequence of its ghrelin-mimetic activity. Researchers have historically studied GHRP-6 as a pharmacological tool for probing the growth-hormone axis and as a candidate for stimulating GH secretion.
