Selank for two months: what I noticed on anxiety and sleep, and what I didn't

Sharing a personal history from a fairly anxious period this spring. Late 20s, high-stress work stretch, wanted to write down what a Selank experiment felt like from the inside rather than relying on how I'd remember it later. Not advice, just my account.

The thing I noticed most was a slight take-the-edge-off quality in the first hour or two, a sort of lowered reactivity when my inbox lit up. It was subtle, never sedating. Sleep is where I'm least sure: my sleep tracker didn't show anything I'd call a real shift in the numbers, even though a couple of nights subjectively felt easier to fall into. Placebo-prone territory, and I know it.

Cognitively I didn't get the "clarity" some people describe. Same distractible me. After about six weeks the edge-off feeling seemed to fade, whether from tolerance or from my work simply calming down, I can't tell you. The human research here is small, so I'm treating my own read as a diary entry, not a finding.

The tracker-vs-feeling split is the most useful part of this. Subjective "easier to fall asleep" with flat objective numbers is such a common pattern and it's humbling every time.

The work stress calming down at roughly the same time is the ghost in every mood report. Almost impossible to rule out. Appreciate you naming it instead of writing a clean success arc.

Yeah, if anything the honest headline is "mild, early, faded, confounded." Not exactly a viral testimonial.

I kept it as a note-to-self mostly. If the anxious stretch returns under calmer external conditions I might have a cleaner comparison, but I'm not holding my breath on isolating it.

Good report and it stays nicely on the personal-history side, thank you. Leaving a general note for the thread since mood and anxiety come up a lot here: if anyone is dealing with anxiety that's affecting daily functioning, please loop in a qualified professional rather than self-managing through compounds. Diary entries like this are welcome; they just aren't a treatment plan.
