Small red welt that fades in an hour after subQ — anyone else?

Sharing my own experience and curious if it rings a bell for others. For a few weeks now I've noticed a small raised red spot at the site right after, maybe the size of a pea, slightly itchy. It calms down and disappears within an hour or two with no bruising or lasting mark.

It doesn't hurt beyond a brief sting and there's no warmth or spreading that I can tell. I mentioned it to my GP at a routine visit and she looked at a photo and wasn't concerned in my case, but said to watch for anything that grows, spreads, or lasts.

Not asking anyone to diagnose me — just wondering whether a brief local response like this is something others have run into. And obviously if yours behaves differently, that's a you-and-your-doctor conversation.

I've had transient local reactions like that too. For me they seemed to track with how cold the liquid was more than anything, but that's pure speculation on my part and n=1. The evidence on why these localized responses happen for individuals is honestly thin.

The watch-for-spreading advice your GP gave is the useful takeaway here. A brief fade-in-an-hour reaction reads very differently from something warm, growing, or lingering for days.

Same general pattern here at certain sites but not others. I stopped trying to explain it and just started noting it in a log so I'd have a record if it ever changed character.

Good that you got eyes on it from an actual clinician. That's the part I'd want anyone reading to copy, not the specifics of what happened to any one of us.
