I keep seeing peptides described as 'short chains of amino acids' and proteins as 'long chains,' which feels like a cop-out. Is there an actual cutoff, or is it just vibes?
I've seen the number 50 amino acids thrown around as the dividing line, but I've also seen 40 and 100. And then insulin gets called both a peptide and a protein depending on who's writing. So which is it?
Trying to get the fundamentals right before I read anything more advanced. Appreciate any clarity.
