Epitalon (the synthetic tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, modeled on Khavinson's Epithalamin) gets described almost universally as a 'telomerase activator.' I wanted to actually pin down what that claim rests on.
The telomerase-elongation data I can find traces back largely to in vitro work in human somatic cell cultures from the Khavinson group, plus some rodent lifespan and pineal/melatonin studies. The often-cited human data is mostly older Russian clinical work that's hard to evaluate by modern standards (small n, limited controls, reporting we can't fully verify in English).
I'm not saying there's nothing there. The pineal/melatonin regulation angle is genuinely interesting. But 'activates telomerase in humans and extends healthy lifespan' is a much bigger claim than the published record supports. Curious whether anyone has found more rigorous, independent replication I've missed.
