I want to talk about the threshold for seeking help, because I think a lot of us are bad at it (myself included). I had a firm little lump persist at one spot for several days. It wasn't hot or red, but it made me anxious about whether I was overreacting or under-reacting.
I ended up calling a nurse line and describing it. They walked me through the warning signs they care about — expanding redness, warmth, fever, pus, worsening pain, red streaking — and told me mine didn't fit the urgent picture but to go in if any of those showed up. It resolved on its own after about a week.
I'm not posting the outcome as reassurance for anyone else, because my situation isn't yours. My real question: how do you personally decide when to stop watching and start calling? I'd love to hear how others draw that line without either panicking or ignoring things.
